We are always on the lookout for unusual, bespoke pieces to give our designs that wow factor. It could be a piece of art, a hand-made piece of furniture or a feature such as the illustrated splashback tiles. They all finish off a room and make our clients feel special because we have made the effort to source something unique rather than ‘off the shelf’.
Of course it’s great if we can use local tradespeople too; something we try to do in all aspects of our work. So we were over the moon to find Julie Gardner from Gilhoolie Bespoke Lampshades on our doorstep.
Julie Gardner lives in Maidenhead and works alongside interior designers and their clients to make beautiful, bespoke lampshades to match interiors. Of course there are various high street shops selling lampshades but often they are not the right design, colour or size. Julie will make lampshades to a specified design with great attention to detail, from contemporary drums to more traditional hand-stitched styles. She will also attach beautiful hand-made trims if desired and advise on suitable materials.
Lampshades needn’t be uninspiring or boring and Julie’s passion for everything to do with them is unequivocal. She’ll even strip down old lampshades and reuse the frames if you have one you love the shape of that needs updating.
