The vivid colours of the glistening Mediterranean inspired the design for this two bedroom apartment, overlooking the harbour at Puerto Andrax. Aquatic blues, acid yellows and rich reds perfectly compliment the timber floor and white walls, giving the apartment a distinctive energy and youthful feel with plenty of light from the full-height windows. Space is optimised to create more rooms than seem initially apparent: a sliding door can separate the snug from the main living room, there’s an outdoor shower space on the roof terrace and even a box room for additional guests. But there’s no compromise on the master bedroom which remains an oasis of calm.

This Georgian house in Yorkshire showcases its owners’ perfect eye for detail and exquisite pieces. I used soothing natural colours to create a light and spacious family home. Delicate fabrics, subtle wall coverings, soft luxurious hand-woven carpets and individually designed furniture pieces are combined to complement the owners’ existing furniture. I also made full use of the height and size of the rooms – typical Georgian assets – with careful use of shape and storage to instil a strong sense of order.

When my clients swapped London living for this Edwardian country house in Berkshire, they knew they’d found an absolute gem of a home. My challenge was to capture the original spirit of the property while updating it for 21st century family life. To do that, I integrated many of the existing features within a contemporary design style. While the drawing room’s rich wood panelling makes it an exceptional space for evening entertainment, the original floors – for example in the hall – have been brought to life through lighter tones of paint. Dashes of colour give the bedrooms and lounges a relaxed air, and the family’s sense of humour is captured in the animals that adorn the walls and original mantelpieces.

It was a deceptively simple brief: the father of this young family wanted somewhere he could feel relaxed in the minute he walked through the door. That meant giving this tasteful Berkshire new-build a special sense of warmth and softness. The house is hidden in an orchard and built with reclaimed bricks: inside, I made best use of the natural light with mirrors, lots of neutral tones and plenty of curves – from the kitchen table to the rugs in the lounge. The house gains its distinctiveness too through those signature family touches – like the feature lampshade in the conservatory and the bespoke wallpaper in the boys’ playroom.

This detached house set in a quiet cul-de-sac in Harpenden, Hertfordshire has been redesigned to create an open-plan interior perfect for modern living. Working with the architects and builders I extended the kitchen and family room to create a fantastic light-filled space that looks out onto the garden. This was then decorated in a contemporary, almost minimalist way to create a spacious area for the client to entertain. A green blue colour palette was introduced to work with the pale floor and walnut wood finish in the kitchen and to reinforce the link with the garden. Limestone flooring runs throughout the ground floor to create a practical choice for a house with children and dogs.

This new-build property in North Yorkshire was built to be the perfect location for entertaining a large family – my client’s! They’d opted to follow a Georgian style, and I was tasked with carrying that atmosphere and aesthetic throughout the interior – without compromising on contemporary comfort. The result is a house decorated with a perfect balance of neutral yet warm colours. The living space is streamlined, elegant and well-scaled and has a relaxed lived-in feel. And as in many a Georgian mansion, each bedroom has been given its own identity by using harmonious accent colours and textures – meaning there’s truly a room for everyone in the family.

When you live a hectic London life, it can be difficult to switch off and get into holiday mode. So the minute my clients arrive in their Cornish holiday home, the seascape embraces them. I selected a colour palette of grey and blue tones to match the environment, and the slate floor is both appealing and practical – as keen sailors and surfers, they bring plenty of sand back with them! The lovely vaulted ceiling is painted all white to maximise the light, but to give a bit more warmth for the upstairs bedrooms there’s a hint of raspberry. Throughout, the seaside ambiance is maintained through features, artwork and even the soft furnishings.
