Samantha Johnson is a leading British designer with a stunning portfolio of immaculate high-end residential homes, beautiful holiday havens, inviting work spaces and boutique hotels.

With a career in the hospitality design sector working for leading agencies, Samantha decided to specialise in interior design and has run her successful design company for over 15 years. She is a regular media commentator on interior design trends.

A member of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), Samantha has established a reputation for delivering exceptional results within a range of budgets and different spaces. Her overall approach is to draw on cues from the property – location, historic features, architectural assets – to create an interior that is ideally suited to its purpose, whether for work, leisure or family living. She places a particular focus on textures and makes innovative use of carefully selected soft furnishings, handmade wallpapers and arts and crafts to create a sense of individuality.

Samantha is able to take on projects of different sizes, from redesigning entire country homes to styling individual rooms – for example in show homes or hotels. She can work with your chosen contractors and architects, or draw on her extensive experience particularly in London and the Home Counties to source and manage skilled professionals to complete your project. Based in Buckinghamshire we operate across Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and West London.

How we work

Interior design is always a partnership, between the designer’s vision and the client’s dreams. That’s why at Samantha Johnson Design, there’s no standard project plan or timeline: instead, Samantha will work with you to understand exactly what you want from your family home, and keep you involved at every stage of the process – especially given the fact that in family life, budgets and priorities can change.

That said, there are some broad stages in a design project which act as a useful guideline:

1. Consultation

This consists of one – or if necessary, more – initial consultations to evaluate a client’s wants and needs, and to get a feel for the property itself and the personalities that live there. That’s why as well as visiting the home, Samantha seeks to meet both partners, and other members of the family where appropriate.

2. Design

Based on the consultation, Samantha will develop initial designs that incorporate materials, finishes and furnishings. Initial presentation may well consist of a selection of mood boards to see which styles capture your imagination: this will then be developed into a full design for you to sign off.

3. Specification

Based on the approved design, and agreed budget, Samantha will put together a full specification and cost estimate for the soft furnishings for you to approve.

4. Implementation

Samantha will develop a comprehensive project plan and schedule, making allowance for any key dates in your schedule. She will then co-ordinate the different suppliers and tradesmen – providing full project management and regular updates – and oversee the installation of all furnishings and accessories.
