I am a British designer who has been in the profession for over 12 years and was trained at the Design School in London. I have been a full member of the British Institute of Interior Design since 2001.
My approach to interior design is based on a simple principle: I believe family homes can – and should – be beautiful places. As a mum of two, with a dog and cat running under my feet, I understand the realities of family life. But those realities reinforce the importance of a beautiful home; somewhere ordered, with space to share, to entertain, to relax and to rest.
That principle is apparent in all my projects. Rather than having a signature style, I like to take cues from the architectural period of the property I am working on and the people who will use the space. I am motivated by a love of good design – both modern and traditional. I’m sensitive to textures as well as colour and shape – which is why soft furnishings, handmade wallpapers and art and craft are such features of my work.
I have completed projects from entire redesigns to styling problem rooms, and have worked in large family homes, holiday homes in the UK and abroad, and in small office and leisure spaces. I pride myself on taking a personal approach to every project and involving my clients at every stage. That way, there are no surprises and I get the satisfaction of seeing your vision being realised before your eyes.
Samantha Johnson Interior Design is a small, but very successful company and I want it to stay that way. What I enjoy most is seeing my designs take shape, so my aim is to focus on selected projects and deliver an impeccable service. I hope you – like my clients to date – will agree it’s well worth it.
